PENDAMPINGAN PASTORAL BAGI PEMUDA:Pendampingan Pastoral Terhadap Pemuda Yang Mengalami Krisis Moral Dan Spiritual Di Gereja Toraja Jemaat Perindingan Klasis Sillanan

Abstract

This study aims to examine and describe the implementation of pastoral accompaniment for youth experiencing moral and spiritual crises at the Toraja Church, Perindingan Congregation, Sillanan Classis, Tana Toraja Regency. Moral and spiritual crises among church youth have become an increasingly evident pastoral phenomenon amidst globalization, the development of digital technology, and shifts in cultural values that affect the faith life of the younger generation. This research employed a qualitative method with a pastoral action research approach, combining data collection through participatory observation, interviews, and reflection on pastoral accompaniment practices over approximately four months. The research subjects were youth of the Perindingan Congregation who were experiencing moral and spiritual crises, accompanied through both individual and group approaches. The results showed that pastoral accompaniment carried out by prioritizing empathy, confidentiality, openness, and a contextual approach that considers Toraja cultural values proved effective in helping youth rebuild trusting relationships, strengthen their awareness of Christian identity, encourage active participation in the church community, and form sustainable small accompaniment groups. The pastoral accompaniment also succeeded in inspiring the commitment of the congregation’s spiritual leaders to continue the accompaniment program in a planned and sustainable manner. This study concludes that holistic and contextual pastoral accompaniment is a relevant church response in assisting youth to overcome moral and spiritual crises, as well as restoring their role as an active next generation in church life.
