Abstract

This study aims to analyze the meaning of salvation by grace according to Ephesians 2:8–9 from a Christian theological perspective. It employs a qualitative method using a library research approach, examining the Bible as the primary source and drawing upon relevant theological texts, biblical commentaries, and scholarly articles. Content analysis is used to interpret the historical and theological contexts as well as the meaning of the text in Ephesians 2:8–9. The findings indicate that salvation is a work of God originating entirely from His grace and received through faith in Jesus Christ, rather than being the result of human effort or works. Salvation by grace constitutes the core of Christian soteriology, affirming God's sovereignty in the work of redemption. This understanding also carries theological implications for the believer's life, fostering humility, gratitude, holiness, and a spirit of service in response to God's grace. Thus, Ephesians 2:8–9 provides a solid theological foundation for understanding and living out the doctrine of salvation within the life of the contemporary church.
